Yeah, Yeah, I Joined Pinterest…

Put a Pin on It…But it was solely for the ability to pin one particular image that makes the entire joining-another-social-platform shenanigan worth it—or so I continue to maintain.

Backstory

I am a fan of bourbon.  I like to sip it in my office and pretend I am a Mad Man-esque classy dame.  Buffalo Trace is my particular fave, even though Maker’s Mark is supposed to be the ooh-la-lah of bourbons.  That said, if Maker’s Mark is going to offer an Ambassador Program by which you get fancy business cards and your very own barrel of bourbon waiting for you should you ever visit their facility, then yes, I will become an Ambassador!

So, I registered a while back, and weeks later I received my welcome packet, including a very fancy looking piece of parchment announcing the dedication of my very own barrel, red wax seal and all.  (This thing was legit.)  It was pretty snazzy.

But I laughed out loud when I saw the name of my barrel, which I had completely forget I ever named it:

CCIBourbon!

And my very first thought (testament to the insidiousness of social media) was, “Damn, I wish I was on Pinterest so I could pin this thing.”

And from there, it began…

I’ve tried to avoid Pinterest for as long as I could, because lord knows I need no additional means to waste my time, and I have a highly addictive personality, especially when it comes to pretty graphics of kick-ass quotes that sum up my life philosophy.  (Or pictures of pandas.  Or Jennifer Lawrence.)

But, it’s just plain fun, and if I can justify wasting an hour perusing random strangers’ boards in the name of developing another branch of my “online brand,” then I’m in.

Will you be my…what do you call Pinterest followers?  Pinheads?

Whatever you choose to call yourself (and I will address you by the title of your choice), if you’d like a peak into the things I find ass-kickingly motivating, ridiculously cute, and/or take a vote on my current ideas for my next tattoo, feel free to follow me on Pinterest, my latest shameful decent into the pop culture digital world.

And let me know who else I should be following.  ‘Cause I need more pins, yo.

Ah, Pinterest. I had to set rules for myself on when I can go on it and how long I’m allowed to stay, otherwise I will lose HOURS.

Unsurprisingly, I’m on it under riversdaughter. ;)

I am *definitely* doing this one in VERY small doses. Given said addictive personality and penchant for inspiring quotes. :)

Oh, Cordelia, as much as I wouldLOVE to be able to call myself a pinhead, this is one place where I will not follow. Though more pictures of pandas is extremely tempting, you’re on your own here. But I DO love your certificate and think that it was sufficient motivation for you to join yet another time sucking social media site. :)

The pandas! Oh, Anne, the pandas! Do stay far, far away. The pictures of pandas alone could eat up your entire life like so many delicious cuppycakes.

I tremble at the very thought. Panda photos, panda videos on facebook suck up more than enough time!

I’m impressed you held out as long as you did. I’m a full blown addict. And I’m not sorry. hahaha

I’m trying *very* hard to stay away from addiction and just toy with occasional bursts of semi-addiction.

We shall see how long that lasts. :)

Nope, I refuse to give in. They’ve hinted I might have to hop on for work (design-related) but I really don’t want an additional distraction or online obligation!

I totally understand. The amount of snarky postcards on Pinterest alone could occupy me for an entire week.
